Moonfish Koi
Pterophyllum Scalare Koi
Moonfish are peaceful, graceful schooling fish from South America.
They must be kept in a group of at least 5.
They also need a large aquarium, 1.2m minimum, preferably even larger.
But it is also important that the aquarium is at least 60 cm high.
In terms of layout, it is recommended to place many plants, especially Vallisneria or larger Echinodorus species.
These leaves are often used for grooming and laying eggs. When a pair is formed, the other fish are kept at a distance, which can be perceived as aggressive behavior.
However, they protect their clutches or the young.
They also do not like too bright light, the Vallisneria dims the light somewhat.
