✂️ Care
Provide strong currents, high oxygen levels, and a substrate of smooth stones and driftwood — essential for this animal to thrive. Keep in a harem or group for the most natural behavior. Feed algae wafers, spirulina, vegetable snacks (cucumber, zucchini, spinach), and occasionally frozen food such as bloodworms or daphnia for extra protein.
🐠 Combination tip
Peaceful towards other species, although males can be territorial among themselves and perform impressive courtship dances. Combine with other coldwater-loving species in a Hillstream biotope.
❓ Frequently asked questions
Why does this fish need so much current?
Sewellia Lineolata comes from fast-flowing mountain rivers and uses its suction mouth to cling to rocks in the strongest currents — it also needs this behavior in the aquarium.
Is each specimen uniquely patterned?
Yes, the tiger-like stripe pattern is unique to each individual — no two Sewellia's are exactly alike.
Can this fish also live in cold water?
Yes, it prefers cooler water than most tropical fish, making it ideal for an unheated or lightly heated Hillstream aquarium.
