Diamond Gourami

⚠️ Level: Moderate — an elegant gourami with beautiful, shimmering spots.

The Pearl Gourami (Trichopodus Leerii) gets its name from the diamond-like, shimmering spots that are scattered across its body. Like other gouramis, this species builds a bubble nest on the water's surface to protect its eggs — fascinating behavior to observe.

✂️ Care

Keep as a pair or harem in a quiet, well-planted aquarium with plenty of floating plants or surface decorations — this is where the male builds his bubble nest. Avoid strong currents, as this disturbs the nest. As a labyrinth fish, this gourami can also breathe air at the water's surface, so ensure an open space above the water.

🐠 Combination tip

Relatively peaceful and can be combined well with other calm community fish. During breeding, the male can become a bit territorial around the bubble nest.
