✂️ Care

Keep in a group of at least 6 in an aquarium of at least 120 cm long and at least 60 cm high. Plant heavily, especially Vallisneria or larger Echinodorus species — these leaves are often used for cleaning and egg-laying, and also dim the light, as Angelfish do not like overly bright light. If a pair forms, they will keep other fish away to protect the spawn or young — this may seem aggressive, but it is normal breeding behavior.

🐠 Combination tip

Can be well combined with other calm South American species. Please note that a formed pair may exhibit territorial behavior around their spawn.

❓ Frequently asked questions

How tall should my aquarium be?
At least 60 cm — due to their tall, oval body shape, Angelfish need not only length, but also height.

Why are my fish becoming aggressive?
If a pair has formed, they will keep other fish at bay to protect their spawn or young. This is normal breeding behavior, no cause for concern.

What plants are best for this fish?
Vallisneria or larger Echinodorus species — they serve as a cleaning and egg-laying spot, and also dim the light.
