✂️ Care
Rotala Yao Yai grows best with regular fertilization and sufficient light. With CO₂, the plant remains compact and full; without CO₂, it grows somewhat slower but is still achievable with good lighting. Regular pruning keeps the plant dense and encourages branching.
💡 Planting Tip
Plant Yao Yai in groups of 5–7 stems for a full, natural look. It combines beautifully with contrasting green plants in the foreground such as Eleocharis parvula or Hemianthus callitrichoides. Thanks to its compact height, it is also excellent as a centerpiece in smaller aquariums.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Yao Yai different from other Rotalas?
Its compact size (max. 20 cm) and dense leaf density make it particularly suitable for the mid-ground of smaller tanks. It stays lower than many other Rotala species and forms a beautiful textured layer.
Can I keep it without CO₂?
Yes, with good lighting and plant nutrition, that is possible. The result will be less compact but certainly achievable for beginners who do not yet have a CO₂ system.
My plant arrived yellow or limp — is that normal?
Yes, this is transport stress and almost always temporary. Give the plant 1–2 weeks to acclimatize. For persistent problems: please contact us.
Is this plant suitable for a shrimp tank?
Yes, completely shrimp-friendly.
