Seachem Acid Buffer
Safely Lower and Stabilize pH — Ideal for Softwater Fish and Plants
Seachem Acid Buffer 300g — Buffers pH stably between 4.0 and 7.0
✅ Level: Intermediate — Gradually lower pH. Measure and adjust for best results.
Seachem Acid Buffer is a professional pH-lowering product that safely and stably maintains aquarium water at a lower pH level. Perfect for fish and plants that require softer, more acidic water — such as discus, dwarf cichlids, tetras, and South American species. Lowers pH by converting carbonate hardness (kH) into CO₂ — safe and natural, without dangerous pH fluctuations.

✂️ Usage Tips
Dissolve the powder in a glass of aquarium water before adding. Add slowly while measuring the pH. Wait 30 minutes between doses. Lower the pH gradually over several days (max. 0.5 pH per day) in existing aquariums to prevent stress in fish. Combine with Seachem Alkaline Buffer for precise pH control between 5.0 and 7.0.
💡 Tip
Ideal for use with RO water or osmosis water — combine with Seachem Equilibrium for the correct water hardness and Acid Buffer for the desired pH.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly does Acid Buffer lower pH?
The speed depends on the buffering capacity (kH) of the water. Dissolve the powder in aquarium water and add gradually while measuring the pH.
Is Acid Buffer safe for fish?
Yes — when applied gradually (max. 0.5 pH per day), Acid Buffer is safe. Large pH changes in a short time can be stressful for fish.
Can I combine Acid Buffer with Alkaline Buffer?
Yes — by combining Acid Buffer and Alkaline Buffer in different ratios, you can precisely set the pH between 5.0 and 7.0.
