Staurogyne Repens
You will receive: 1 pot, ready to plant — freshly delivered from the nursery.
⚠️ Level: Medium — Staurogyne Repens requires normal to high light and CO₂ for the most beautiful compact carpet formation.
Staurogyne Repens is a compact stem plant with fresh green, oval leaves that form a dense carpet in the foreground zone when there is sufficient light. Comparable to Hygrophila Polysperma but much smaller and more compact — one of the most valued foreground plants in modern aquascaping. Originating from the shallow rivers of South America, where the plant grows along the banks in shallow water.

✂️ Care
Plant the stems in small groups of 3–5, approximately 2 cm apart, in the foreground. CO₂ strongly promotes compact growth — without CO₂, the plant grows more upwards. Prune regularly for a denser, more compact carpet. Liquid fertilizers like Sera Florena support healthy growth.
💡 Planter tip
Staurogyne Repens is an excellent alternative to HC Cuba — easier and less demanding, but with a similar carpet effect. Combines beautifully with Anubias Nana on stone or Bucephalandra on wood for a varied foreground.
❓ Frequently asked questions
Do I need CO₂ for this plant?
CO₂ is not mandatory but strongly recommended. Without CO₂, the plant will grow more upwards instead of forming a compact carpet.
My plant is growing upwards instead of forming a carpet — what's wrong?
This is caused by too little light or CO₂. Increase light intensity and add CO₂ for compact, horizontal growth.
Is this plant suitable for a shrimp tank?
Yes, completely shrimp-friendly.
