✂️ Care
Rotala Bossi grows best with intense lighting and regular fertilization. Without sufficient light, the internodes will stretch and the plant will lose its compact character. Regular pruning just above a node encourages branching and keeps the plant dense and full. For optimal growth, we recommend liquid plant food such as Sera Florena, or Sera Florenette substrate tablets.
💡 Planting Tip
Rotala Bossi works best as a group plant in the foreground or midground. Plant 5–10 stems close together for a lush effect. Combines beautifully with contrasting textures such as Eleocharis parvula (grass) or broadleaf plants such as Anubias nana. Ideal for nano-aquariums of 30–60 liters.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Can I keep Rotala Bossi without CO₂?
It's possible, but the result will be significantly less attractive. Without CO₂, the plant grows slower, the stems stretch, and the color remains flat green. For compact, colorful growth, CO₂ is strongly recommended.
How do I keep the plant compact?
By regular pruning — cut off the tops as soon as the plant reaches the desired height. The trimmed tops can be replanted immediately for denser growth.
My plant arrived yellow or limp — is that normal?
Yes, this is transport stress and almost always temporary. Give the plant 1–2 weeks to acclimatize. For persistent problems: contact us.
Is Rotala Bossi suitable for a nano-aquarium?
Absolutely — this is even one of the most popular choices for nano-aquariums. Its compact size (max. 15 cm) and fine structure fit perfectly in tanks from 20 liters.
Is this plant suitable for a shrimp tank?
Yes, Rotala Bossi is completely shrimp-friendly. Its fine leaf structure also provides excellent hiding places for young shrimp and nauplii.
