✅ Level: Easy — Cryptocoryne Lucens grows slowly and is undemanding. No CO₂ required.
Cryptocoryne Willisii 'Lucens' is a compact rosette plant from Sri Lanka with narrow, green leaves. Due to its slow growth, the plant is very low-maintenance — ideal for the foreground and midground. The plant spreads via runners and can be trimmed short for a dense plant stock.

✂️ Care
Do not plant the rhizome too deep in the substrate. The plant can be pruned short (2–3 cm) to develop a dense plant stock. During replanting or water changes, 'crypt-melt' can occur — this is normal and the plant almost always recovers within a few weeks. Liquid fertilization such as Sera Florena supports healthy growth.
💡 Planter's Tip
Ideal as a low-growing foreground plant. Combines beautifully with Cryptocoryne Parva or Staurogyne Repens for a varied foreground.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
What is 'crypt-melt'?
Crypt-melt is a natural reaction to change. The leaves turn yellow and die, but the rhizome remains alive and the plant grows back within a few weeks.
Is this plant suitable for a shrimp tank?
Yes, completely shrimp-friendly.
