Iron Test for Fresh and Saltwater — Quick Insight into Iron Deficiency in Aquarium Plants
Sera FE-Test — approx. 75 measurements, also detects chelated iron
✅ Level: Easy — Simple to use. Results within minutes.
Iron (Fe) is an essential nutrient for aquarium plants. Faded or yellow leaves can indicate an iron deficiency. The Sera FE-Test quickly clarifies the iron content in your aquarium — in both fresh and saltwater. It also detects chelated (stabilized) iron, such as that present in Sera Flore 2 Ferro. Sufficient for approx. 75 measurements.

✂️ Usage Tips
Test the iron level weekly when using plant fertilizer. The ideal iron concentration for aquarium plants is between 0.05 and 0.1 mg/l. In case of a deficiency: dose Sera Florena or Sera Flore 2 Ferro. In case of an excess: perform a partial water change and reduce the dosage.
💡 Tip
Always test before and after dosing plant fertilizer to determine the correct dosage for your aquarium — every aquarium is different.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Why do my plants have faded leaves?
Faded or yellow leaves are often a sign of iron deficiency. Use the Sera FE-Test to confirm this and then dose Sera Florena or Flore 2 Ferro.
Can the test also measure chelated iron?
Yes — the Sera FE-Test detects both free iron and chelated (stabilized) iron, such as that present in Sera Flore 2 Ferro.
How often should I test the iron level?
When actively using plant fertilizer, weekly testing is recommended. For stable aquariums, monthly testing is sufficient.
