✂️ Care
Keep in a school of at least 6 — in larger groups, males display their most intense blue sheen during courtship. Feed fine flake food or micro-pellets, supplemented with live or frozen food such as brine shrimp and daphnia. A dark substrate and indirect lighting will best highlight the blue color.
🐠 Combination tip
Peaceful and ideal for nano-aquariums, possibly with shrimp or other small, calm nano-fish. Combines well with floating plants such as Salvinia or Riccia.
❓ Frequently asked questions
Why does the color of this fish change?
The blue shimmer is iridescence — the color changes hue depending on the angle of light, from deep blue to turquoise.
How many specimens should I buy at minimum?
At least 6 — as a schooling fish, it feels most comfortable in a group.
How do I get the most intense colors?
Use a dark substrate and indirect lighting, and feed a protein-rich diet.
