Plant the bulb no more than 1/3 into the substrate — the growing point must always protrude above the substrate. For gravel or sand only: use fertilizer tablets under the bulb. Keep water parameters stable; fluctuations can lead to rot. CO₂ is not required but stimulates growth and flowering. Liquid fertilization such as Sera Florena strengthens the plant. During the dormancy period, dim the light or add extra floating plants for shade.

Plant solitarily in a spacious spot — the plant can grow up to 40 cm wide. During flowering, a flower stalk grows towards the water surface; you can collect the seeds to grow new plants. Move the plant as little as possible.
