Cryptocoryne Spiralis is an upright species with long, thin, and narrow green leaves that can grow up to 40 cm long. The plant grows quite easily and is suitable for planting in groups, but also looks good as a solitary plant.

This plant has few requirements and is therefore ideal for beginners. It does not need CO₂ or additional nutrients and can tolerate various water parameters. However, ensure sufficient light, as this is important for good growth. A clay cone at the base is usually sufficient nutrition. When replanting or during water changes, 'crypt-melt' can occur — the leaves turn yellow and die, but the plant almost always recovers within a few weeks.

What is 'crypt-melt' and should I be concerned?
Crypt-melt is a natural reaction to change (replanting, different water parameters). The leaves yellow and die, but the rhizome remains alive, and the plant regrows within a few weeks.
