✂️ Care

Plant the tuber partially in your (nutrient) substrate, with at least 1/3 of the tuber above the substrate — this prevents rot. Minimize root damage during planting. The plant grows its leaves rapidly towards the water surface, which blocks a lot of light from other plants; regularly trim back the largest leaf growth to keep the plant low and compact. Propagation is via shoots — cut off a new plant once it has developed its own roots.

💡 Planting tip

At low water levels, this plant enjoys flowering — a beautiful effect in a paludarium or shallowly set up aquarium.

❓ Frequently asked questions

My bulb plant has lost its leaves — what now?
No worries, as long as the tuber is healthy and firm, new leaves will sprout within a few weeks. Leaf loss can be due to transport, too low water temperature, or a natural 'dormancy period' of the plant.

How deep should I plant the tuber?
Plant the tuber partially in the substrate, with at least 1/3 protruding above. Fully burying it can cause rot.

Is this plant suitable for a shrimp tank?
Yes, completely shrimp-friendly.
