African Fan Hand Shrimp

The African Fan Shrimp (Atya gabonensis) is an impressive filter feeder that, with its imposing size and beautiful fan-like claws, is a real eye-catcher in any large freshwater aquarium. This robust shrimp from West Africa can grow up to 12 cm and displays fascinating filtering behavior as it catches food particles at strategic locations in the current.

🌟 Exclusively available in our store
These special African Fan Shrimps are for sale with us. We carefully select healthy, vital specimens that will thrive immediately in your aquarium.

Ideal conditions:
This tropical shrimp needs warmer water temperatures between 20-30°C and a pH value of 6.0-8.0. Due to its size, a spacious aquarium of at least 120 cm is essential. Provide good current and elevated perching spots such as large rocks, thick roots, or decorations where it can unfurl its impressive fans.

Feeding:
As an omnivorous filter feeder, the African Fan Shrimp filters microscopic food particles, algae, and organic matter from the water. Regularly feed finely ground fish food, spirulina, or special filter feeder food. Due to its larger size, it needs more food than smaller species.
