The Sherry barbel is a calm and strong schooling fish, which is very suitable for beginners.
The Sherry barbel does not have many demands on the aquarium, but they do like a lot of hiding places and some leaves on the bottom.
By setting up the aquarium with a dark substrate and not setting the light to full strength, they will feel more at ease and will show themselves more often.

The difference between male and female is very easy to see because the males get a beautiful red color. The colors of the females can even be brown.

The Sherry barbel should not be kept with fish that have long fins and/or antennae, such as angelfish and gouramis.
The Sherry barbel likes to nibble on this now and then.
