Black Molly

Poecilia Sphenops

The Black Molly is an easy beginner fish that is not demanding.

They like a fully planted aquarium with plenty of swimming space.
They are viviparous, meaning that the young have been carried in the mother's womb for some time and when they are fully grown, the mother releases the young.

When fully grown they are often around 8 cm. They should be completely black, hence their name.
The difference in sex is very easy to see, as females have a small fin under their belly and males have a rod (gonopodium).
