Catappa leaves without the mess - handy in tea bags
Seachem Catappa Tea Bags offer all the benefits of traditional catappa leaves (Indian almond leaves) in a clean, easy-to-use tea bag format. Perfect for shrimp, bettas, and other tropical fish that thrive in natural blackwater with tannins—without the mess of whole leaves in your aquarium.
Why tea bags?
- Cleaner and tidier: No broken leaves that clutter your aquarium
- Easy to dose: One tea bag per specific volume - simple and effective
- Easy to remove: Simply pull the pouch out when you're done
- Faster release: Finely ground leaves release tannins faster than whole leaves
- Ideal for small aquariums: Perfect portion size for nano aquariums and shrimp tanks
Benefits for shrimp
- Promotes shedding: Natural substances support healthy shedding
- Antibacterial effect: Protects vulnerable shrimps during molting
- Improves survival of young shrimp: Creates optimal conditions for shrimp farming
- Natural nutrients: Contains valuable humic and fulvic acids
Benefits for Bettas
- Natural Blackwater Habitat: Recreates the environment that bettas naturally live in
- Reduces stress: Tannins create a calming, natural environment
- Supports Healing: Helps recover from fin rot and other conditions
- Intensifies colors: Bettas often show brighter colors in water with tannins.
General benefits
- Releases natural tannins that give the water a light amber color
- Lowers pH value gradually and naturally
- Softens water by reducing hardness
- 100% natural product without chemical additives
- Safe for all aquarium inhabitants and plants.
Usage
Place one tea bag per 40-80 liters of aquarium water in your filter or on the bottom of your aquarium. The bag will sink within a few hours and gradually release tannins. Leave the bag in the aquarium for 1-2 weeks, or remove it sooner once the desired water color has been achieved. For a more intensive effect, you can soak the bag in hot water first.
Ideal for: Shrimp aquariums (Neocaridina, Caridina), bettas, nano aquariums, discus fish, dwarf cichlids and other fish that prefer soft, acidic water.
Tip: Combine with Seachem Catappa Leaves for a natural look with added tannins, or use the tea bags alone for a clean, minimalist aquarium.
