In winter, or when the water temperature is below 12 degrees Celsius, koi rarely surface and forage for food at the bottom. Therefore, sinking food should always be fed during the winter. The metabolism of warm-blooded koi is significantly reduced at low temperatures. During this period, the animals therefore depend on a food characterized by high bioavailability.

Koi Professional Winter is a needs-based staple food specifically developed for the activity level, foraging behavior, and nutritional needs of koi at low temperatures. The essential, highly unsaturated omega-3 fatty acids [eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)] in the food provide energy and protect cell membranes.
