Eleocharis - Aquarium Plants
Eleocharis is one of the most popular carpeting plants for aquariums. With its delicate, grass-like stems, it creates a lush green carpet on the bottom of your aquascape—perfect for the Iwagumi style or any other natural composition.
Why Eleocharis?
- Carpet-forming—grows horizontally via runners and completely covers the substrate
- Fine and elegant—the thin stems create an airy, natural effect
- Suitable for CO₂ systems—grows best with CO₂ and good light, but some variants also thrive in low-tech setups
- Multiple variants—from the compact Eleocharis parvula to the slightly taller Eleocharis acicularis
Care Tips
Plant Eleocharis in small bunches close together for the fastest substrate coverage. Regular trimming stimulates horizontal growth and keeps the carpet compact and dense.
