Spiderwood - Aquarium & Terrarium

Spiderwood is a beautiful, whimsical Asian wood species that is very popular for a beautiful scape of your aquarium or terrarium.
This makes it easy to glue moss onto it, turning a piece of spiderwood into an underwater tree, for example. In addition to the decorative look and feel, shrimps and small fish can easily hide between the wood.

You will always receive the piece of spiderwood (if there is a number) that you ordered.

Spiderwood is a striking, natural wood species that excels in aquascaping due to its unique, branched structure. The wood has a light brown to reddish color and is characterized by irregular branches that create a natural, almost root-like appearance. These properties make it ideal for creating a dynamic and organic layout in both nano aquariums and large aquascapes.

Spiderwood is a favorite among aquascapers for the creative freedom it offers. Its numerous branches make it perfect for adding height and depth to a layout, or for creating natural hiding places for fish and shrimp. Its open structure also makes it ideal for planting with mosses, Java fern, Bucephalandra, or Anubias. These plants can be easily attached with fishing line or plant glue and will, over time, firmly adhere to the wood, creating a beautiful, overgrown effect.

An additional advantage of Spiderwood is that it's relatively lightweight and usually free of resins or toxins. It's therefore safe for all aquarium animals, including sensitive species like shrimp. However, Spiderwood may float temporarily for the first few weeks. Therefore, it's recommended to pre-soak the wood or temporarily weigh it down in the aquarium until it's saturated with water.

During the first few weeks in the aquarium, a light, white biofilm may form on the wood. This is a completely natural and harmless process – it disappears on its own or is eaten by shrimp and snails.

In short: Spiderwood is a decorative and functional element that instantly gives your aquascape a professional, natural look. Each piece is unique, so you can always add a personal touch to your aquarium. Whether you're building a minimalist layout or creating a lush jungle, Spiderwood is the perfect foundation.
