Sera Scaper Root
Filigree-shaped root for lifelike aquascaping — available in XS, S, and M
Sera Scaper Root — natural decorative wood for aquariums and terrariums
✅ Level: Easy — Ready to use. No special knowledge required.
The Sera Scaper Root is a particularly filigree-shaped root — ideal for the lifelike reproduction of underwater landscapes. Already dark brown when dry, almost black underwater. Unlike other roots, only a barely visible biofilm forms on the Scaper Root, which serves as a food source for shrimp and snails — no unsightly bacterial growth. Available in three sizes: XS (18–20 cm), S (25–30 cm), and M (30–35 cm).

✂️ Usage tips
Soak the root before placement to prevent it from floating, or weigh it down with stones or other roots. Attach Java moss or Phoenix moss with fishing line for a lush planted effect. Combine multiple sizes for a varied, natural layout.
💡 Tip
Combine the Scaper Root with the Sera Scaper Wood for a varied hardscape — the fine branches of the Root and the compact wood of the Wood complement each other perfectly.
❓ Frequently asked questions
Do I need to soak the root before use?
Yes — soak the root before placement to prevent it from floating. Alternatively: weigh it down with stones or other roots.
Does bacterial growth form on the root?
The Scaper Root forms only a barely visible biofilm — no unsightly bacterial growth like with many other roots. The biofilm serves as food for shrimp and snails.
Which moss is suitable for the Scaper Root?
Java moss and Phoenix moss are excellent. Attach the moss with fishing line and it will naturally grow over the fine branches.
